Java Developer (Job Number:xxxx95)Description:The Integrated Systems Group of SAIC has an opening for a Jr. Java Developer for the Mission Programs Division (MPD), located in Columbia, Maryland.JOB SUMMARY:Serve as a Software Engineer providing full system and software lifecycle support for incremental software functionality, web-based graphical user interface development, and database support. Candidate should be self-motivated, customer-focused, have excellent communication skills, and be excited about producing high-quality software.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:•Participate in requirements gathering and analysis activities.•Provide duration estimates for software design, development, and testing.•Develop, maintain, and enhance software systems based upon direction provided by the technical lead.•Assist in maintenance and enhancement of the automated software testing framework.•Deploy software to test and production systems.•Support software in the user acceptance test and production environments.Portions of SAIC to be renamed Leidos, Inc., subject to stockholder approval and consummation of a separation transaction if approved by SAIC board of directors. SAIC is pursuing a plan to separate into two independently traded companies;one that provides technical, engineering and enterprise information technology services primarily to the U.S. government (new SAIC), and one that delivers technical solutions in national security, engineering and health (Leidos, Inc)Qualifications:BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:•Bachelor's degree, preferred, in Engineering and/or Computer Science and 5 years of development experience. Work experience may be substituted for degree.•Experience designing and developing web applications using Java and the Spring Framework.•Experience developing web-based GUIs using Javascript, jQuery, JSP, and HTML.•Experience using the Eclipse development environment and installing Eclipse plugins.•Experience writing Ant scripts for building software libraries to be deployed to the Apache Tomcat web server.•Strong experience using the JUnit testing framework to create unit tests.•Experience writing and optimizing SQL queries interfacing with an Oracle database.•Basic understanding of Linux command line interactions and permissions configuration.•Must have an active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance (No CCA and no NFNA can be accepted.)PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:•Familiarity with or willingness to learn Dojo, Apache Tiles, Firebug, Shell scripting, Selenium, Jenkins, CheckStyle, Emma, Mockito, Trac, DOORS, and MS Project.•Understanding and strong interest in all areas of the software development life-cycle (requirements, scheduling, design, implementation, testing, documentation, reviews, installation, support).•Demonstrated passion for improving processes both internal and external to the software team.•Exhibits good leadership qualities through commitment to the project, maintaining a positive attitude, and constant communication with the team and stakeholders.•Good listener and team player.•Good collaboration skills and Open minded.•Proactive in resolving problems.SAIC Overview:SAIC is a FORTUNE 500® scientific, engineering, and technology applications company that uses its deep domain knowledge to solve problems of vital importance to the nation and the world, in national security, energy & environment, health and cybersecurity.
